Recomiendo mucho verla.

FILM FESTIVAL ... and what does that mean? That means Lucia will see three films a week.
By the way, I have finished first year of uni so from now on, I'll have more time for the blog and youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdGVwile8ZfftjoTwaNaN5A)
What do we have today? ... JULIETA, Almodóvar's latest film. This film is based on a story by Alice Munro (Literature Nobel Prize 2013), "Silence". Despite some not too friendly reviews describe it as inaccessible or a film that does not catch the viewer, placing him in a distant perspective, I consider it one of the deepest Almodóvar's films, although I must admit that I have not seen all of his work. And why do I say this? He himself accepted that he especially involved in this film, which deals carefully with the issue of loss, guilt, family -and more specifically of family relationships-, unsurprisingly focusing on female characters.
Although he claims to have eliminated any hint of Almodóvar in this film, we appreciate that he is clearly involved in it, and as for the technical subject, we distinguish some of his favourite shots, colors and of course, Chavela Vargas on its soundtrack. In his own words, the film is containment, which arises from his person, and somehow is transferred to the story.
I want to focus now on the cast, which in some way, give life to this story. Adriana Ugarte and Emma Suarez do an excellent job, but fail to unite as the same character, since both worked as Juliet, I could not help feeling that I was faced with two different characters, and I understand that the character evolves throughout the story, but it does not convince me. Undoubtedly, male actors also did well, but as usual in Almodovar's films they are secondary, leaving the way clear for women.
Something that really catches my attention is his taste for short and close-ups that convey the suffering and frustration of his characters. In addition, as I read, the director told the actors not to cry in front of the camera, thus creating cradling faces pain, which are contained, and this way, he certainly manages to reach the viewer.
I do not think this is the best work of Almodóvar, but we can glimpse a slight innovation in his style. It is a deep and moving story, while tragic and unreal, with beautiful colors and shots designed by a brilliant mind. I highly recommend watching this film.
