Me equivocaba.

Star Wars is back (again), to surprise us once again with a film full of characters, nostalgia and old hopes. On this occasion under the command of Rian Johnson. The fight against the First Order continues, and this movie is the clear sign that hope is never lost, neither for the rebels, nor for Star Wars fans.
The Force Awakens elicited a strong wave of criticism and praise, and as its follower, The Last Jedi could not arouse less.
One of the great critical points that this film raised was the repeated use of allusions to its predecessors, which for me personally, were a success. Instead, in this new installment, the new characters shine with their own light and, with the support of their predecessors, reach a higher level, presenting themselves as deserving heirs of the acclaimed saga.
Visually, the film is incredible, but what can you expect from a super production like this? We all knew that in this sense, the film was not going to fall short, and special effects and cinematography surprise even the most critical of the room. In this sense, the production is amazing, getting even to recreate dead actors, as in the case of Leia (Carrie Fisher), although this was already done in the last film.
Actors such as Daisy Ridley and my beloved Adam Driver, make their characters grow dramatically and are shown as clear artists in their work. Without them, this
However, having so many technological possibilities, expectations were very high, and the narrative can be relegated to the background. But this does not happen in this tape, more on the contrary. The plot is complex, full of characters and plot-twists that do not allow the viewer to deviate for a moment. In this sense, I believe that the film narrows its audience by demanding a greater engagement. This, however, surprised me, given Disney's position as to be for 'all audiences'.
In this sense, I cannot be happier, since I was clearly afraid of Disney facilitating and simplifying the saga too much. I was wrong.
On the contrary, we find a strong analysis of the dark side, and instead of seeing how bad the bad ones are, the film presents a more ambiguous understanding that plays with the line between good and bad (finally!). Personally, I believe that this is one of the strongest points of Johnson's work, and that it makes the film, for my taste, even more challenging.
Of course, the film is not perfect, and despite being entertaining, there are flaws in the script and lack of perhaps more fluidity in the development of some relationships and characters, such as Luke and Finn.
I would also like to highlight how it is closer to its constant competitor Star Trek with the repeated appearance of the control room of different ships in many scenes, a place that we had not seen so much until now, but perhaps this is nothing more than speculation.
In general, this new installment is up to the task, and surprises in many ways, especially in the moral and the development of the characters. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, but we see how the trilogy is growing. Without a doubt, my expectations for the next one are high. Who knows what it will bring us. However, it is worth seeing and without a doubt, it is a great film that many will enjoy.
